About Buckhorn Outfitters

Buckhorn Outfitters was designed with you, the trophy hunter in mind. Properties exceeding five hundred acres are hard to find in the mid-west and we have acquired several large tracts of land In Greene County, Illinois. (Approximately 6200 acres.) These properties consist of corn, soybeans, deep hardwood draws, and mature trophy white tails. Hunt property acquisition is based on their ability to attract and hold these mature bucks. By adding food plots and leaving standing beans and corn on these properties we are increasing the number of mature deer a place can hold. Check out our trail cameras and you will see for your self..

At Buckhorn Outfitters our priority is on quality deer management and client satisfaction. We limit our camp sizes to six people to ensure each client receives personal attention. This also ensures less pressure on our properties. Low pressure allows us to hunt specific deer and let others go for a older age structure. Trophy sightings, shot opportunities and harvest numbers are all a direct result of controlled camp sizes. We have implemented a intense year round management program.

Key ingredients are low pressure, nutrition and age. This program consists of summer farming, fall food plots, late season standing crops and lastly, the harvesting of mature bucks. We have a 140 P&Y minimum or 4 1/2 years old. Anything under these requirements and there is a $800 penalty fee. This plan gives these deer the age and the nutrition they need to reach their fullest potential. They already have superior genetics. These are a few of the things that set us apart from most outfitters. To consistently harvest trophy bucks we need quality ground, lots of stands , lots of food , and low hunt pressure. These are they key ingredients to Buckhorn Outfitters success since we have started this venture.

Buckhorn Outfitters was established in 1999 after working with other outfitters and watching hunters coming and going like cattle at the stockyard. I (Rob Scott) decided I could do this on my own and do it the right way. The key to any outfitter is small camp sizes with the right amount of ground. Wether it be Buckhorn Outfitters or another outfitter, camp sizes are they key to success. Just because some outfitters might post more kill pics than others doesn't mean they are better. It simply means they probably run twice or three time the hunters. After years in the business we have learned that perspective hunt clients must be very cautious while choosing a outfitter. The criteria you set for your outfitter should include honesty, integrity and an ethical approach to hunting. If belive in those terms, please consider hunting with Buckhorn Outfitters. Combine this business philosophy with our commitment to quality and a client oriented staff and you have all the makings for a great hunt experience.
